About Us

Responding to a lack of access to practical business assistance for new, emerging, and established businesses in the Roaring Fork Valley, Randi Lowenthal, CEO, formed the Roaring Fork Business Resource Center ("Center") in March 2009.  We are a tax-exempt under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code and are eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions in accordance with the Internal Revenue Code Section 170.

We have created this virtual incubator/resource center to serve businesses from Parachute to Aspen. The Center promotes existing business resources, creates new learning opportunities, and identifies ways for small businesses to access capital, and we will accelerate the growth of emerging local and regional businesses to create jobs and increase tax revenues.

Instead of acquiring and managing a large physical facility, the Center partners with commercial real estate offices to help clients who complete a customized program of action find the appropriate location and space at lower-than-market rent.

Randi LowenthalRandi Lowenthal, Founder & CEO
Ms. Lowenthal moved to the Roaring Fork Valley in October 2000 to assume responsibility for the development and administration of consulting programs and funding opportunities at Rocky Mountain Institute. Then, she joined The Aspen Institute to direct the Society of Fellows. Before creating the Center, Randi served as the Executive Director of the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce for 5-1/2 years from June 2003 to January 2009. She was responsible for day-to-day management, financial oversight, and membership development, and orchestrated a membership increase of over 400%.

Prior to her move to the valley, Randi held management positions in law firms and other professional service organizations in Chicago, Philadelphia, and New York City. She has participated on many nonprofit boards and committees throughout her careers and strongly believes in the concept of lifelong learning. Randi currently serves as the secretary of the Colorado Mountain College (CMC) Foundation Board of Directors and participates on the CMC Roaring Fork Advisory Council. She is also a member of the Valley View Hospital Foundation Community Relations Committee and a member of the Colorado Lending Source Loan Review Committee. And, she is an SBDC small business counselor and a SCORE small business counselor. She graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder; attended Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Business; and received a Masters in Business Administration from Roosevelt University in Chicago.

Stephanie KeisterStephanie Keister, Marketing & Operations Manager
Stephanie began her career in marketing and public relations in 1998, after graduating from Webster University in St. Louis with a bachelor's degree in public relations (with a minor in business management). Her love of the written word led her to a successful writing career - first as a travel writer for Maritz and then as a financial communications writer for Bank of America and Stifel Nicolaus. Seeking out a life in the mountains, Stephanie relocated from St. Louis to Colorado in 2005, where she worked as the Director of Tourism Marketing for Glenwood Springs (2005-06)) and as the Director of Marketing for Schmueser Gordon Meyer (2006-07), a Glenwood Springs-based engineering firm.  In 2008, Stephanie moved to Maine for an opportunity to oversee marketing and public relations efforts for L.L.Bean's Outdoor Discovery Schools.  After three years with L.L.Bean, Stephanie longed to be back in the mountains and returned to the home she loved in Glenwood Springs. As the Marketing & Operations Manager for the Center, Stephanie oversees day-to-day operations, maintains the Center's website and databases, and provides strategic and creative marketing support. She is also available to provide marketing guidance to clients of the Center.
Stephanie can be reached at (970) 945-5158 x2 or stephanie@rfbrc.org
